It incorporates the ancient system of yoga, feminine movement and free dance and draws on shamanic traditions. Through Qoya we are able to spend less time living in our heads and more time connecting to our bodies. We move to music, specifically selected to reflect the theme of each session… there is no way you can do Qoya wrong and the way you know that you are doing it right is that it feels good and feels true to you… it’s ALL about how it feels, not about how it looks. Moving our bodies through the different stages of a Qoya class, can help us to access the wellspring of wisdom that resides in each of us as well as the ancestral wisdom that came before us. Once we connect to this … well, this practice is nothing short of transformative. Do you want to write from the heart? Are you ready to write your story or any story? Not necessarily all of it, perhaps just a small part of it, or one chapter at a time. Every time we share our story, the world heals a little more and I think we can all agree that the world is in need of some healing right now! When you tell your story, not only do you realise that you are not alone, but you give permission for others to find their voices too. Writing our experiences can feel like a daunting task but, as I have learnt myself, there are ways in which we can approach it that not only make it easier but that can have a transformative impact on us. It’s an alchemic process that takes place when we allow our story to release itself from our heart – where it’s often been locked away for a very long time – and find its way into a pen – or keyboard – to be seen by ourselves and heard by others. Perhaps you have already begun to explore this practice of heart writing, perhaps you already have words on paper that are waiting patiently, or screaming out, to be heard…wherever you are at with it, if this is speaking to you then I recommend you follow that impulse.
